Brian Kung is the co-founder of Safe Food Management
and has over 40 years of food industry experience. He possesses a rare combination of food safety and culinary knowledge coupled with hospitality management expertise.

Prior to co-founding Safe Food Management, Brian worked in the foodservice industry in a variety of roles, starting at his father’s take-out restaurant as a youngster and working his way through different positions during the intervening years as a server, chef, and business owner.

He was born in Canton China, spent his formative years in Hong Kong and completed his education in Canada. His multicultural awareness and sensitivity to individual learning styles, combined with his excellent training and facilitation skills, have resulted in effective training programs and a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Brian is a Registered ServSafe® Instructor, offering the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Program. In cooperation with The City of Boston and the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association, he designed and implemented the Nation’s first Chinese Food Manager Certification Training Program in Massachusetts' Chinatown.

During Brian’s time with Safe Food Management, he has conducted hundreds of Certification and food handler training workshops for groups that reflect the ethnic diversity of the New England area. In these workshops, he has utilized his skill and expertise in multicultural food management issues.

His language skills and cultural background have also proven valuable while conducting food safety audits. He has assisted many ethnic food establishments, warehouses and processing plants in obtaining operating permits and maintaining compliance with state and local regulations.

A strong component of his success has been helping people acknowledge and understand the need for changing food handling behaviors. Brian has also been effective in illustrating the business necessity of providing safe, quality food while maintaining a cooperative relationship with relevant regulatory agencies.
