What if my health department wants confirmation that I registered for a class?

Once you register, you'll receive confirmation, directions to our class and study materials. If you need immediate confirmation, we can fax a confirmation form to you, or directly to your health department. Just let us know you need this when you register.

How often must I renew my certificate?

ServSafe Certification must be renewed every 5 years, in Massachusetts. However, some regulatory jurisdictions and employer standards require more frequent recertification. It's important that you check with your state or local health departments to avoid licensing problems.

Our class meets the re-certification requirements for most states.

When and how do I get my exam results?

Certificates usually arrive within 4 weeks of taking the exam. Approximately 15 business days after your examination date, you can get your score online by following these simple steps.

Please read them before clicking to enter the site.

Steps to get your score:

Once the screen is open, click on the box to the left
   titled “For Student Exams"

• Then click on “Check Exam Scores"

• When they ask for your ID, enter the class ID number,
   given to you during class.

• When they ask for your password, enter your
   Social Security Number.

Click here when you are ready to get your score.

If you didn't provide your Social Security Number on your answer sheet, you can't get your score by logging in to the NRAEF website. In that case, you must wait up to 4 weeks to receive your score and/or certificate in the mail.

What if I need more time to take the exam?

What if I have special needs?

We provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities following procedures that are consistent with the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures and the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing.

This includes alternate test formats (e.g., oral instead of written) and test aids (e.g., translators, readers or large-print booklets)

Foreign Language Translations

An examinee with limited proficiency in English may hire and pay for a qualified interpreter to assist the Proctor in administering the exam. The interpreter needs to be fluent in both English and the examinee’s native language.

The interpreter must have no personal relationship with the examinee. The interpreter also may not interpret subjective opinions or cues to the examinee.

Examinees who want to use an interpreter must provide the credentials of the interpreter along with their request.

To apply for a special accommodation, you must notify us at least 10 business days before the examination date, so we can obtain approval from the testing agency.

If we're unaware of your accommodation need before the examination date, we won't be able to accommodate your special need that day, and you'll have to return another time to take the exam.

If your special accommodation request is denied, you may submit an Appeal Request Form within 30 days of the denial.

Examinees who want to take the Examination in English may use a bilingual English-native language dictionary (e.g., English-Spanish) during the examination. English-language dictionaries are not allowed.

Literacy Deficiencies

Examinees with literacy deficiencies may also apply for a special accommodation by submitting a request, along with an official report documenting the deficiency.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a class?

The registration fee is non-refundable. However, we'll make every effort to accommodate you in another class.

Participant substitutions are permitted, as long as you contact us within two business days prior to the class.

“No-shows” or cancellations without notifying us at least two business days prior to your scheduled class date will result in a $20 rescheduling fee.

We reserve the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather. In either case, we'll make every effort to accommodate you in another class or refund the cost of the class, minus any course materials (such as the textbook).
